Music genre is a grouping of music according to its resemblance to one another. Music also can be grouped according to other criteria, such as geography. A genre of music can be defined by technique, style, context, and theme music.

Grouping by Purpose

In general, music, grouped according to their purposes, which can be grouped into three major domains, namely Art Music, Popular Music, and Traditional Music.

• Music Art

Music Arts is a grouping of classical music to the music and the music kind of assessed value of its history other than the level of artistic value. Music of this kind more used to refer to the types of music that good adherence to the theories of music and usually hard to understand ordinary people (except those already started incorporating the style of Popular Music).

• Classical music

Classical music usually refers to European classical music, but sometimes also in the classical music of Persia, India, and others. European classical music itself consists of several periods, such as baroque, classical, and romantic. Classical music is a broad term that usually refers to music produced in, or rooted in the tradition of Western art, Christian music, and orchestral music, covering the period from about the 9th century to the 21st century.
